With the MacBook Pro all of those parts with just one part--the breakthrough unibody enclosure. Every MacBook Pro starts its life as a single block of aluminum, which is precisely machined into the basic unibody design. Another pass and the unibody takes shape. Another, and the integrated keyboard emerges. When you pick up a new MacBook Pro, you immediately notice the entire enclosure is thinner and lighter. Buttonless Multi-Touch Trackpad With no button on the durable glass trackpad, there's more room to track and click--left, right, center, and everywhere in between. Apple engineers removed the majority of brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) from circuit boards, internal cables, connectors, insulators, adhesives, and more in the MacBook Pro. Because Apple makes both the hardware and the software for the MacBook, they're designed to work together to produce a smarter product that uses less electricity. For instance, to reduce energy consumption, the hard drive spins down automatically when inactive. MacBook Air also decides which processor--CPU or GPU--is best suited to efficiently perform a task. The LED-backlit display in the MacBook Pro is another feature that plays an important part in conserving energy, consuming 30 percent less power than conventional LCD displays. MacBook computers, including the MacBook Pro, on which i am writing this review, are known for frequent manufacturing problems - hard drive, keyboard and mousepad.
While it is a great computer, if it breaks down on you, and you live outside of North America, it will be a nightmare getting it fixed!
I have a new MacBook Pro 15 bought through Amazon. I am currently Moscow, Russia, where there are numerous Apple Stores. The mousepad stopped working about two weeks ago in Bali, Indonesia. The shop told us to not even think about getting it fixed there - it would take at least a month. Back in Moscow we took it for repair, and the same problem the shop said - no problem, you are covered by warrantee, but it will take between 7 days and 6 months to get the replacement Apple MacBook MC516LL/A 13.3-Inch LaptopApple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptoppart - and we cannot tell you how long, not even approximately.
Apparently, they keep no spares locally, and have to order them from abroad. We have desperately checked every shop, and they all tell us the same thing. "Don't worry" we will fix it for free - hopefully in 2010. I am back on my old Toshiba which can be repaired in 24 hours, anywhere. Think about it.

This mac is just what I need for going into my Graphic Design program. It is absolutely gorgeous and works like magic. It is a pristine piece of equipment that seems solid enough to last me through the rest of my college career. If you are wondering if it is worth it for the price all I can say is just get it. It is priceless for this generation. You will love it.

Purchased the 15" macbook pro to replace an iMac that severla years old (still runs awesome, but I wanted a new toy). The Mac's are pricey which would be the only complaint. I purchased it on a 12 month financing deal so that helped ease that pain.
The machine itself is awesome. I used migration assistant to migrate my files and settings and it worked flawlessly, painlessly and easily. The 15" version is the perfect size for me. I tried a 13" last year and it was too tiny; the 17" too big. The performance for the week or so I have had it is wonderful. It shuts down so quickly - no waiting. So efficient.
I was amazed at how light the machine is. My husband has a 15" windows based laptop and I expected it to be the same weight, but the macbook weighs about half his laptop.
